The Kurverein (spa association) was founded in 1884 by five innkeepers and merged with the local Verkehrsverein (traffic association) in the beginning of the 20th century. Over the years, the organisation, which was afterwards called Arosa Tourism, established various offers, impelled the construction of necessary infrastructure and was in charge of the marketing of the destination. Arosa is nowadays cross-border popular with families – in winter, as well as in summer.
As a destination management organisation, the main task of Arosa Tourism lays within the appropriate representation of the destination with all its tourist facilities, offers and events, and the successful destination marketing of the mountain village. The DMO with its roughly 30 employees strives to reach this goal with an overall budget of CHF 6.5 million. A special characteristic of Arosa is the event strategy of the tourism organisation. Thanks to the high-quality events, numerous additional overnight stays are being generated all over the year. This strategy granted the DMO to accept the highest award in Swiss tourism, called “Milestone”.
